Join us September 24 at supper at 6:15PM and a presentation at 7:15PM by
noted author and caregiving expert Sue Salach who will share "Help for the
Sandwich Generation."

People in the Sandwich Generation can range in age from 30 to 60, trying
to meet the needs of their growing or adult children and the needs of
their aging parents. Anyone who is in this sandwiched between two
generations can usually sum up their state of mind in one word
"exhausted"!

As a national speaker Sue utilizes her extensive educational and career
experience with her personal understanding of how overwhelming it can be
to try to care for both growing children and an older adult. Her
passionate speaking style flavored with humorous real life anecdotes will
entertain and educate.

As a ministry leader and Pastor's wife Sue understands that we need to
pray for God's help in every facet of our life, especially the areas of
life that are as crucial as raising children and caring for aging parents.
Recently she stated that God has created in her a great passion for
sharing information and resources with professionals, ministry leaders and
family caregivers that are trying to meet the day to day demands of work,
family and caring for an elderly loved one. In sharing her story about
caring for her Grandfather she identifies with being overwhelmed and
having to navigate through the world of health care to try to help her
loved one.

For further information call (630) 627-1101.

ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES AT PEACESUNDAY MORNING ADULT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIESTRUTH PROJECT BIBLE STUDY (9-10:30am Sunday mornings Sept. 7-Dec. 7)Leader: Team-Led

A recent Barna Research Group study revealed that only 9% of professing Christians have a Biblical world-view. What does this mean? Today's believers live very similarly to non-believers. A personal sense of significance is rarely experienced. We spend our money and time on things that fail to satisfy. We begin to wonder what life's ultimate purpose really is. We are, in short, losing our bearings as a people and a nation.

The Truth Project is a DVD-based curriculum comprised of twelve one-hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett. This study is the starting point for looking at life from a Biblical perspective. Each lesson discusses in great detail the relevance and importance of living the Christian world-view in daily life.

Classes will meet in the Senior Pastor Office Rm. 104

Stepping Up-A Journey Through The Psalms Of Ascent (by Beth Moore)

This study explores Psalms 12-134. Traveling pilgrims sang these psalms both on the way to the great festivals of the Jews and as key worship elements at those festivals. No matter who you are or where you've been, this study is for you. You don't need any religious training or previous Bible study to participate in this journey. At the same time, the Psalms will challenge the serious student of God's Word to take the next step with God. The study will include DVD sessions viewed as a group and in-depth study of each Psalm.

Respectful Kids: The Complete Guide to Bringing Out the Best in Your Child (Dr. Todd Cartmell)

The group will study Respectful Kids, in which family coach and child psychologist Dr. Todd Cartmell offers a proven three-part strategy that can transform family relationships through the power of respect. His Biblically-based techniques will equip you to help your children break their disrespectful habits and instead nurture respectful behaviors. Not only will these techniques strengthen your family, they'll prepare your children for Godly maturity and successful relationships in adulthood.

Crown Biblical Financial Study

Are you ready to turn your thinking upside down and see things from God's point of view? This study is aimed at increasing your intimacy with Jesus. Matthew 6:21 tells us that "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Are you ready to go on a "treasure " hunt? The first step is to identify what we're hunting for. Jesus is willing to reveal Himself to you; are you ready to reveal yourself to Him? This study includes Scripture memorization, homework (approximately 1 hour per week), and praying for each other. It doesn't matter what your financial situation is; this study is about where your heart is. All personal financial information remains just that-personal, between you and the Lord.

A Woman of Beauty-A Woman's Journey through 1st, 2nd and 3rd John (by Dee Brestin)

Have you ever met a woman who radiates the love of Christ? You can be like her, for her beauty secrets are found in these powerful letters. John promises that as you practice them, your confidence, joy and love will increase, giving you a radiance that will not fade, causing you to be a reflection of Christ to the world. This study will help you:

-Begin to practice and understand the joys of sacrificial love

-Learn about the amazing "foreign love of God"

-Discover the distinguishing mark of a Christian

-Embrace the beauty of God being alive and well in us

What Women Want-The Life You Want and How God Satisfies (by Lisa Bergren and Rebecca Price)

The study leads participants to thoughtfully consider their soul-deep longings and pursue God's best in every area in life. Using in-depth interviews from a national survey and hundreds of personal interviews, Biblical narritives, personal stories and inspiring quotes, the authors point toward the kind of wholeness God desires, providing lots of fun and inspiration along the way. We will explore friendship, how and where to find happiness, health and more, with an eye on physical, emotional and spiritual matters.

"GROW UP!" Has anyone ever said that to you? Have you ever said it to someone else? Usually it is spoken as a command, perhaps even uttered in an exasperated tone. The Bible looks at it differently. When Scripture tells us to grow in faith, it's not a rebuke but rather an invitation to learn more about Jesus and grow in wonder of all He has done for us.

The theme for our 2008-2009 Joybreak year is "Grow In Grace," based on 2Peter 3:18: "Grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."

We invite all women of Peace, their friends and neighbors, to join us as we study God's Word, develop Christian friendships, and grow in Jesus!

Getting Connected to Small Group - Small Groups

Small Group Ministry

In pursuit of Peace's mission to be an authentic and innovative connection to Christ, the Small Group Ministry provides opportunities for people to strengthen their relationship to Christ and each other in a caring and supportive environment.

Currently Peace has over 20 small groups that meet once a week or twice a month. People who participate in small groups range in age and marital status, children or no children. One of our ministry's goals is to try to develop small groups that will accommodate what season of life people are in and schedules.

Small groups provide a sense of community and an opportunity to grow in spiritual maturity through topical (scripture based) or biblical study. Through participating in one of these groups, many individuals will tell you that it had helped them personally feel encouraged and strengthened in their faith.

Would you like to join a Small Group?

Small Groups are a great way to develop an authentic relationship with Christ and other members of Peace. Each group is encouraged to creatively incorporate worship, service, fellowship and Bible study into their group life. All these aspects of small group life will help you grow in faith and put your faith into action.

Would you like to be a Small Group Leader?

The Small Group ministry team works with each leader by providing training to assist them in leading and caring for their group members. Bible study reviews, suggestions for worship, mission service, and fellowship are provided to the leader on a regular basis from the ministry team. Many group leaders have expressed the tremendous personal growth they felt in leading a group.

Would you like to be part of Small Group Ministry leadership?

Perhaps you have already been in a small group, could the Lord be speaking to you about becoming an encourager and supporter for other leaders? Our team is always looking for others to join with us in building up Peace's Small Group ministry. New team members are always welcome to help us place people in Small Groups, support Small Group Leaders, form new groups and to support the mission and vision of Peace.

If you would like to join a group, become a leader, lead a short-term group, or join the Ministry Team then contact Katherine Richards (Katherine@peacehome.org or 630.627.1101) or Tom Brauer (brauer83@comcast.net or 630.665.0365).

There are times when every one of us experiences difficulties. God never intended for us to go through these experiences alone. That's why God has brought us together as a congregation-and why we have Stephen Ministry.
Stephen Ministers are members of Peace who have received 50 hours of caregiving training to minister to people experiencing a crisis, facing a challenge, or simply going through a tough time.
A Stephen Minister will meet with you, privately and confidentially, on a weekly basis to listen, care, encourage, support, and remind you of Christ's presence in your life.
If you'd like to learn more about Stephen Ministry for yourself or someone you know, please contact Pastor Hufford or Jan Faulkner, our Parish Nurse.

This is our best understanding of God's will for the future of our ministry. Our community will look to us as a beacon of love and an oasis of hope as we build relationships and soften hearts through service in their midst. We will capture their attention by who we are and by what God is doing in and through us. We will become a household word as we carry the Gospel to the community in many forms and diverse ways, compassionately responding to their needs for Jesus' sake. Our guests from all walks of life will be welcomed home, engaged by what they see and hear, and will leave hungry to return often and soon. They will be connected to Christ and His Gospel and inspired by watching Him at work in us.Our members will be joyfully and passionately growing in spirit and in numbers. They will be firmly rooted in the Word, united in worship of the Triune God, and joined in work together to connect others to Christ in service and outreach to God's glory!

God offers us eternal life as a free gift (Romans 6:23)

All are sinners and cannot save themselves (Romans 3:23)

God hates sin, but loves the sinner (John 3:16)

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ provide us the free gift of eternal life (John 11:25-25)

We receive the free gift by trusting in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 10:9-10; John 1:12)

When we receive Jesus, He lives in us (Revelation 3:20) to give us a full and meaningful life (John 10:10)

We are to tell others of Jesus' love (Acts1:8)
