Thank you for taking the time to learn about Peace Lutheran Church!
Exciting worship of the living God...training 21st century people to live as followers of Christ in a changing world...sharing hope and healing in a hurting culture...holding out the cross of Christ as the only way to know peace-these are the core values of Peace Church. Uplifting Christian music and singing, live dramas and practical video moments are all a part of what makes our church a special place! What matters most to us is that you know how deeply and personally God loves you! If you were the only person who ever lived, God would still have sent His Son to die to save you!

Our pastor presents basic Biblical truths in a way that's relevant to today. Our services reflect our belief that attending church should be an enjoyable, uplifting and meaningful experience that encourages you to develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. If you have questions or want to know more about a relationship with Jesus Christ, we would love to talk to you! Come visit us this Sunday-you are always welcome here!

Servant Heart Meals -
Help a friend in need.

In response to an occasional need for meals for members of our Peace community, we're provide a ministry called Servant Heart Meals. Its goal is to have a list of volunteers willing to be called on to provide and deliver a meal, home-made or store bought, to a family in crisis. The need for meals is not a frequent request, but when a family is experiencing a difficult time, a meal and a friendly face is truly a blessing. If you can be part of this ministry, men women or small groups, please contact Cathy Hajek at 630.627.0046 or email clhajek@hotmail.com.

Peace Pals: Care for Others - Parish Nurse News and Notes

Whether we are 10 or 100 , everyone needs a pal. A pal can be a best friend, a spouse, a child, someone we work with, or even a cuddly pet. A pal can be any gender or age and is an important part of life. Biblically, a pal should be an image of God and His relationship with the Trinity. He lives in fellowship with the Trinity and He invites us to have a relationship with Him and each other.

Unfortunately, there are people among us who reach a point in life where a real pal is nowhere to be found. They may be living alone or in an unfamiliar environment where the people who once supported them are gone. Sometimes circumstances have made it difficult to engage with others as they once did.

This is where we, as God's children, have an opportunity to help our brothers and sisters. We are especially blessed at Peace to have a program call Peace Pals to reach out with the love we have received from God and pass it on to those who need His touch.

Peace Pals is a program that matches a shut-in with a member of our congregation to relay the message that they are not alone or forgotten. The requirements of a Peace Pal are simple: visiting shut-ins periodically, coming with a smile, sitting and talking. Most importantly, letting them know that they are loved.

We have several members of Peace who are serving in this way. Would you consider joining them in this wonderful ministry? If you would like more information, please contact Cheryl Esmail, Peace Pals Coordinator, 630-462-7462 or email CREsmail@aol.com

Shawls have been made for centuries. Universal and embracing, they are symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles.

Prayer Shawlers meet each month the 2nd Monday from 7-9PM and 2nd Thursday from1-3 PM. These knitter/crocheters are responsible for the beautiful Prayer Shawls hanging at the back of the Sanctuary. For more information, contact Ruth Winter, evening group, Lynn Kapheim, afternoon group, or Jan Faulkner, Parish Nurse. Beginners welcome!

There are times when everyone of us experiences difficulties. God never intended for us to go through these experiences alone. That's why God has brought us together as a congregation-and why we have Stephen Ministry.
Stephen Ministers are members of Peace who have received 50 hours of caregiving training to minister to people experiencing a crisis, facing a challenge, or simply going through a tough time.
A Stephen Minister will meet with you, privately and confidentially, on a weekly basis to listen, care, encourage, support, and remind you of Christ's presence in your life.
If you'd like to learn more about Stephen Ministry for yourself or someone you know, please contact Pastor Hufford or Jan Faulkner, our Parish Nurse.

Peace has committed to daily reading and reflecting on the Bible during 2010 and 2011. We began on Jan 1, 2010 and will finish on Dec 31, 2011. A system of readings, a "path" , has been laid out to read the entire Bible over the course of two years. This is based on a two-year reading plan in a bimonthly publication of Concordia Publishing House called Today's Light. It includes daily devotions, frequent practical lessons on prayer, and online questions for reflection.

Discussion questions are available online or in the Lobby. For more information, contact Linda Wallace (630) 627-1101 x21 or lwallace@peacehome.org.

The cost for an annual subscription is $16.00. Make checks payable to Peace Lutheran Church. Contact Sharon in the church office to register (630) 627-1101 or:

We Believe at Peace Lutheran Church The Bible Teaches . . . - What We Believe

God is eternally existent as one God in three Persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the creator and sustainer of all things. (Genesis 1:1, Psalm 90:2, Corinthians 13:14)

Every person is created in God's image and loved by God, but also born sinful and, thus, spiritually separated from a holy God. (Genesis 1:27, Isaiah 53:6a, Romans 3:23)

God provided the way to reconcile sinful people to Himself by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, as a sacrifice for sin. (Romans 6:23, 1 John 4:10, John 14:6)

The free gift of salvation is offered as a gift of God's grace to all who will believe on Jesus the Savior. (John 3:16, Acts 4:12, Romans 8:9, Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Holy Spirit works within people to draw them to faith, to enable them to trust in Jesus, and to empower them to live God-pleasing lives. (1 Corinthians 12:3, Titus 3:4-7, John 14:26, John 16:13)

The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and trustworthy Word of God. (2 Peter 1:20-21, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Isaiah 40:8)

Holy Baptism is a means of grace through which God grants spiritual rebirth. (John 3:3-5, Mark 16:16)

The Lord's Supper is a means of grace and a meal of remembrance that strengthens our faith as we receive Christ's body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine. (1 Corinthians 10:16, 1 Corinthians 11:23-25)
